Port Sudan Port.


Southern Port :

The Southern ports concerned with the handling of containers, oil products and grain bulk .
The length of berths is about 766 meters and depth of 11.0 to 12.6 meters, it is area is about 400 thousand sq .met . With atotal capacity of 3 million tons per year .

The Southern port witnessed a remarkable progress such as the rehabilitation of the berth 17/18 , the installation of container cranes , RTG and other equipments to respond to all needs . The rehabilitation project comprises also establishment of anew power station and extended of the containers berth (17/18) by 142 meters to be in total of 420 meters in length.

Port Sudan is situated on latitude (º19 ΄39) north and longitude (º73 ΄13)east on the middle red sea coast. Local time G.M.T. plus(3)hours.

Port Sudan Harbour considered as natural port which occupies strategic site in the center of the west coast of hte red sea about 1200 kilometers north-east khartoum about 260 kilometers south-west Jeddah ( Saudi Arabia ) .

Port Sudan is meanly handling general cargoes , Livestock , Cement , Containers , Oil Products , Wheat , Pesticides and Cars . It is divided into 3 ports Northern Port , South Port and Green Port.

Northern Port :-

    The total length of the Northern Port is about 2845 meters and the average width about 300 meters possesses 27 stores with a total of 57 thousand square meters , with capacity of 5 million tons per year , it is comprises of 11 berths with a total length of 1663 meters and depth varies between (8.7) to (10.7) meters in addition to a two berths in the exportation of livestock which used now of 122 meters length and depth of (6.1) meters on Barges .
