The President of the Republic, Marshal Omar al-Bashir, reviewed a number of issues in the field of transport, roads and bridges, especially with regard to internal roads and the development of seaports that accommodate the requirements of international trade. This came during a meeting with his office at the Republican Palace last Thursday, Engineer Makkawi Mohamed Awad, Minister of Transport, Roads and Bridges, who explained in a press statement that the meeting dealt with the development of sea ports, especially the southern port, which was launched in a global tender, which was dedicated to a Philippine company, and will develop the southern port in Port Sudan to accommodate High efficiency loading and unloading operation.
The minister said that the project of Sawakin Gate is going well, noting that the joint project between the Sudan and Chad in the field of railways has gone a long way, pointing to the completion of internal roads targeted despite the challenges and circumstances facing the country.
