Sea Ports Corporation – Sudan
The Sudanese-Qatari joint talks on the development of Prince Othman Dokneh Port in Swakin, Red Sea State, were held this morning at the Ministry of Transport, Roads and Bridges
The Sudanese side was headed by Engineer Makkawi Mohamed Awad, Minister of Transport, Roads and Bridges, while the Minister of Communications and Communications, Jassem bin Saif bin Al-Sulaiti, headed the Qatari side.
The agreement was signed on the Sudanese side by Dr. Abdulhafeez Saleh Ali, Director of Maritime Ports at the Ministry of Transport, Roads and Bridges and the Qatari side Mr. Hassan bin Hassan Al-Hill, Advisor to the Minister and Chairman of the Joint Committee for the Transport Sector.
In his address to the signing ceremony, Eng. Makkawi praised Qatar’s keenness to continue joint cooperation with Sudan in all fields. He welcomed the Qatari minister’s visit, which he described as the first of its kind.
He said that this day is a remarkable day announcing the start of work after the signing, especially as there are committees were working for work, noting that the agreement includes many aspects, including training and investment.
The Qatari minister announced the start of work in the development of the port after the study of the strategic plan, indicating that a number of ships will arrive at the port early next month for the purpose of joint cooperation, pointing out that his country is looking for more investment in Sudan according to the plan included.
He said the port was used to bring Sudanese cattle to the State of Qatar to achieve the interest between the two countries and that the agreement included other agreements in the economic field.
The Director of Maritime Ports, Dr. Abdulhafid Saleh Ali welcomed the visit of the Qatari delegation, noting that the visit achieved its objectives in support of the country’s march to develop the port of Osman Dokneh, pointing out that the study that was planned to develop the port was built on a global basis
