The total area of the North Quays is (853.5) thousand square meters and the length of its enclosure is (2845)m, and width(300) meters .It is dedicated for handling general cargo, edible oil,molasses,dry bulk cargo, liquid bulk and vehicles. Its design capacity is (5) million tons per year.

TrafficAnalysis at North Quays :-
(1) Ships:
North Quays received (274) ships at a ratio of (36.2%) of the total number of ships calling at the port of Port Sudan.
The month of January witnessed the biggest number of ships calling at North Quays i.e.( vessels) which was (10.6%) of the total traffic.
The lowest rate (6.6%) was in November with only (18) ships calling at North Quays.
(2) Cargo:
Volume of cargo traffic in North Quays amounted to (1647199) tons of general cargo (export+import) which was (19.9%) of total tons handled in Port Sudan.
Imports ratio was (83.8%) of the total cargo traffic handled at North Quays,exports ratio was (16.2%).
(3) cars and Containers:
North Quays received (13926) cars in 2014 compared to(11266) in 2013 i.e. by an increase of (23.6%) due to encouraging commercial policies (exceptions and exemptions). Container traffic increased by (23.5%) in 2014 compared to 2013.
